D4vd had been charged with the first-degree murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and mutilation of human remains. According to the LA County District Attorney’s office, the charges carry special circumstances that make the case death penalty eligible. The situation escalated further during a subsequent court hearing, when prosecutors told the court that more than 40 terabytes of digital evidence had been collected from Burke’s iPhone, computer, and iCloud account. Essentially, his devices contained a significant amount of child p***ography. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to all the aforementioned charges, with his attorney maintaining that evidence will show he did not cause Hernandez’s death.
