Following the arrest and charge of singer-songwriter David Anthony Burke, popularly known as D4vd, on charges of first-degree murder, Fortnite is reportedly processing refund requests for his cosmetics.

The same news was recently confirmed by prominent data miner ShiinaBR, and the information was initially posted by Reddit user u/NickSaysHenlo on r/FortNiteBR.Given the intensity of the charges, Epic Games is doing the right job, and the refunds will likely be processed for more users. The section below provides you with everything you need to know about the D4vd controversy and the action taking place in Fortnite.

Fortnite is processing refunds for D4vd cosmetics after the murder case controversy

Reddit user u/NickSaysHenlo, who submitted a refund request through Epic Games support, has had their request confirmed and processed. This suggests Epic is quietly accommodating refund requests for D4vd cosmetics without a formal public statement. The community has reacted strongly, with one Reddit comment reading: “Wow, rare W. I wish it would be easier, like in-game”Despite never joining the Fortnite Icon Series, D4vd’s music is in the game with the Locked and Loaded Jam Track, What Are You Waiting For Jam Track, Trophy Drop Emote, and Feel It Emote.

This is the first instance of anyone in the Fortnite space facing felony criminal charges. The closest precedent is Travis Scott, and his cosmetics have not appeared in the Item Shop since August 2020. Many fans believe that the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy, which led to the deaths of ten attendees, was the primary reason.Epic Games has yet to issue a formal public statement on the matter. It is likely that they will just quietly provide the refunds to the users who are asking for the same.

What are the charges against D4vd?

D4vd had been charged with the first-degree murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and mutilation of human remains. According to the LA County District Attorney’s office, the charges carry special circumstances that make the case death penalty eligible. The situation escalated further during a subsequent court hearing, when prosecutors told the court that more than 40 terabytes of digital evidence had been collected from Burke’s iPhone, computer, and iCloud account. Essentially, his devices contained a significant amount of child p***ography. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to all the aforementioned charges, with his attorney maintaining that evidence will show he did not cause Hernandez’s death.
