Jhansi: Police on Saturday arrested three individuals from Nagra Hatt involved in the illegal IPL betting racket, freezing over Rs 25 lakhs, and seizing virtual coins worth Rs 2 lakh.According to police, a raid was conducted on a tip-off in which three accused identified as Neeraj Niranjan (37), Dilip Singh alias Vijay (40), and Harendra Singh Parihar alias Lalla (36), all from Nagra falling under Prem Nagar police station were arrested.Police said that the names of the arrested accused were revealed during the interrogation of the main accused Brijendra Rajput, the mastermind of the racket who was arrested earlier.They have been betting through an online website exclusively created for this purpose, and the entire racket was being run through various WhatsApp groups in which clients were added for betting, police said.SSP Jhansi, BBGTS Murthy said, “Strict measures are being taken against illegal networks and activities. Apart from recovering Rs 25.50 lakh today, in the past two weeks we have arrested 27 people involved in betting, freezing virtual coins worth Rs 16.30 crore, and have recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash”.
