Jamshedpur: Roads will be properly illuminated in Mango town after the newly elected board of Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has decided to fix the faulty street lights and install new ones, officials said on Friday.The board has decided to repair 7,000 street lights in the command limits. Besides 1,000 new street lights will be installed across all 36 wards of MMC. All the light posts in the command area will be equipped with LED lights. Additionally, new locations will be identified for the installation of high-mast lights.“Repairing of street lights will begin from Monday while the process of installation of the new ones will commence by the end of April,” said MMC deputy mayor Rahul Singh Kashyap.The MMC area has 400 lamp posts and 25 high-mast lights, besides over 5,200 LED lights.Kashyap said that a decision was also taken to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the installation of high-definition closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs).“Detailed study of the locations across colonies, slums, pathways, main roads, markets and public places will be codnucted to determine the total number of the sites for CCTV installation and accordingly they will be installed,” Kashyap said.
He said that demand for funds for the installation of the CCTVs will be put before the urban development department upon completion of the DPR.The civic body will come up with a dedicated vendor zone with all necessary features to ensure safety and security of vendors and buyers besides provision of hygiene facilities to keep the area clean.
