Pakistani Currency Found at Baba Baidyanath Dham: Security Intensified in Deoghar

Dumka: Security arrangements have significantly been intensified at the Baba Baidyanath Dham temple in Deoghar district following recovery of Pakistani currency recently.Sources said that while opening the donation boxes on March 27, temple staff discovered Pakistani notes.

The unexpected find raised concerns among authorities, prompting a detailed review of the temple’s security.Reportedly, intelligence inputs gathered following the arrest of a few suspects in parts of Ghaziabad and Kaushambi by Delhi police on March 22 too indicated that the Deoghar temple, could also be among the potential targets, said police sources.Talking to TOI on Wednesday, an official said, “As part of the heightened measures, a comprehensive surveillance system has been put in place.

Additional CCTVs have been also installed at all crucial entry and exit points for round-the-clock monitoring.”Security deployment too has also been strengthened with personnel from India Reserve Battalion (IRB) being deployed on the temple premises alongside the district police forces.Devotees entering the temple are subject to stringent security checks by metal detectors, which have been been made mandatory at all the four entry gates, the official said.

While officials have not disclosed further specific details, they acknowledged that the heightened vigil is part of preventive action.Deoghar deputy commissioner (DC) Naman Priyesh Lakda said, “Security is our top priority and we are equally focused on maintaining a hassle-free experience for pilgrims. We are also procuring door-frame metal detectors now for installation at all the gates.”
