Governor Haribhau Bagde addresses the convocation ceremony of Vishwakarma Skill University in Jaipur Wednesday
Jaipur: Governor Haribhau Bagde, while addressing the second convocation of Vishwakarma Skill University Wednesday, said that the universities should mandatorily organise the annual convocation ceremony.He said that while the convocation may be held on a modest scale, it must be conducted regularly. “Students studying at the university should receive their degrees promptly, as this provides them with a sense of direction,” said Bagde. Degrees were conferred on 786 undergraduate and postgraduate students Wednesday.Addressing students, he said that skill education should be utilised for the holistic development of the nation.
He emphasised the need to promote moral education within universities alongside skill education and added that imparting moral values enhances the quality of material development.He suggested that, in addition to enhancing children’s intellectual capabilities, they should be educated to resist the tendency to resort to cheating. He urged teachers to keep themselves updated and to strive for the effective advancement of education.
Vice-Chancellor Dev Swarup, while addressing the media, said, “The degrees awarded this time are not printed on ordinary paper. They have been crafted using a non-tearable material that does not rip easily and can remain preserved for approximately 100 years. Several hidden security features have been incorporated into the degrees, thereby virtually eliminating the possibility of fraud.”He added that the design of these degrees has been modelled after the patterns adopted by the country’s prestigious institutions, like IITs and IIMs.This year, the degrees given to students were made of non-tearable material. In a first, students were provided with their academic transcripts along with degrees.
