Ryan Lochte is now at the center of a messy and very public fight. The 12-time Olympic medalist is going through a divorce, but things got worse this week when a private email he allegedly sent to his wife became public.
Soon after, his estranged wife Kayla Rae Reid and his current girlfriend Molly Gillihan began arguing openly online. The situation has now turned into a three-way conflict, with personal claims, parenting accusations, and strong words shared in public.

Kayla Rae Reid, who was married to Ryan Lochte for seven years, shared a screenshot of an email she says Lochte sent her. In that message, he allegedly wrote that Molly Gillihan is a “ten times better mother” and told Reid to “move on with your gold digging life.”Reid posted the email on her Instagram story and called it just a small part of what she deals with daily. She wrote, “This is what I deal with every. single. day,” as reported by the New York Post. She also added, “This is the tip of the iceberg and I am exhausted.”She explained that the message came right after she checked on their two-year-old child who was sick. Reid said she feels disrespected and tired, and added, “My heart goes out to anyone navigating a similar situation.”
Reid and Lochte share three children together, Caiden, Liv, and Georgia. She filed for divorce in March 2025, and later confirmed the split publicly in June 2025, calling it a very painful decision after “deep prayer and reflection.”
Molly Gillihan responds with strong claims about Kayla Rae Reid’s parenting as Ryan Lochte stays silent
After Reid’s post, Molly Gillihan responded with her own message on social media. She did not stay quiet and instead made serious claims about Reid’s behavior.Gillihan wrote, “You dropped your two year old off with us covered in throw up, no pants, and rushed off as fast as you could to your girls weekend in Miami.”
She also said, “You’re a CHILD and I’m exhausted of YOUR false narrative.”She added that she does not follow Reid online and tries to focus only on the children. Gillihan ended her message by saying, “I’ll love on your kids and mine until my last breath.”Ryan Lochte has not publicly responded to this latest exchange. Earlier this year, he spoke to People and confirmed he had moved in with Gillihan and her three children. He said, “I fell in love with someone who shares those same values,” and described their life together as a “family of six kids.”Lochte has also denied cheating claims and said there was no overlap between his marriage and his new relationship.
