Salman Khan song final mix never used; Composer Lalit Pandit reveals 'O O Jaane Jaana' tape accident

Who can forget the iconic ‘O O Jaane Jaana’ featuring the prime time Salman Khan with all his charm. The sequence showed Salman performing shirtless with an electric guitar, which perfectly matched the energetic track. Now an interesting trivia has been shared by Lalit Pandit.Music composer Lalit Pandit recently shared a surprising story about one of the most popular songs from the 1998 film ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’. The track ‘O O Jaane Jaana’, featuring Salman Khan’s energetic performance, turned out to be a raw recording rather than the planned final mix. Lalit made this revelation during a guest appearance on Indian Idol.

Composer Lalit Pandit shares trivia

Lalit Pandit appeared as a special guest on the singing reality show.

Contestant Manraj performed ‘O O Jaane Jaana’, prompting the composer to open up about its creation. He explained that the polished final version never reached the film. Instead, a rough track ended up in the movie due to an unexpected technical issue just before release. The team had recorded the song and kept the tapes ready. However, days before the film’s release, a problem occurred with the master tape. They had no choice but to use the existing raw recording.

Surprisingly, this unpolished version sounded good enough to serve as the final track and became a massive success. He said, “Jab humne song compose kiya tha, yeh jo song hain kabhie final mix tak pahucha hi nahi. Humne song record kar liya tha aur tape bhi the humare pass par release ke kuch din pehle voh tape toot gayi aur aaj tak jo aap sab uss gaane ko sunte hain voh final mix song hi nahi hain.” (“When we had composed the song, it never actually reached the final mix stage.

We had recorded it and had the tapes with us, but a few days before the release, that tape got damaged.

So even today, the version of the song that all of you hear is not the final mix.”)

Salman Khan’s contribution to song’s success

Lalit credited Salman Khan’s powerful screen presence for turning the song into a nationwide sensation. The composer noted that the raw version gained its soul through Salman’s charisma. He added, “Gaana itni hit hogi humne socha nahi tha, hume pata tha song achi hain par yeh song hit hogayi only because of Salman Khan kyunki unka jo screen presence tha voh guitar ke sath aur shirtless voh work kar gaya” (“We never expected the song to become such a big hit. We knew it was good, but it became a hit only because of Salman Khan—his screen presence, especially with the guitar and shirtless, really worked.”)Meanwhile, Salman Khan will be next seen in ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’
