A major crossover is unfolding between music and football. A $200 million music executive tied to Taylor Swift’s masters controversy is now stepping into the NFL world. The move adds a fresh twist to a story that once dominated global headlines for all the wrong reasons.Years after that dispute reshaped the music business, the same figure is now entering pro football through a new partnership. This time, the focus shifts from catalog battles to player representation and brand building in the NFL.

Music mogul behind Taylor Swift masters battle takes bold step into NFL agency space

The shift became official when ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared the update on X. He wrote that veteran NFL agent Kelli Masters and KMM Sports are partnering with the music executive’s entertainment group, along with Erik Logan. The post reads, “Longtime NFL agent Kelli Masters of KMM Sports is partnering with Scott Borchetta, founder of Big Machine Records and Big Machine Racing, and Erik Logan, CEO and Chief Advisor for Tony Robbins. Borchetta Entertainment Group will now be entering the football space.”

This is not a small side move. It marks a first real push into football representation. KMM Sports already handles NFL clients, including players linked to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, the new partnership plans to go beyond contracts. The focus will stay on brand deals, media strategy, and long-term business growth for athletes. That angle makes this deal stand out. Traditional agents lock in contracts. This group wants to build full-scale brands. The music background plays a role here. Years of managing artists, tours, and media deals now move into the football space. The backstory adds weight. In June 2019, the executive’s record label was sold to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings for about $300 million.

A huge part of that value came from Swift’s catalogue. The sale triggered a public dispute as Swift claimed she could not buy back her masters. That fight stayed in the headlines for years.Swift later flipped the narrative. Between 2021 and 2023, she released re-recorded albums. By 2025, she secured ownership of her music. She confirmed it on her official website, saying, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.”

She shared that message while announcing the deal in 2025.Now, the same business figure linked to that saga has turned toward football. The timing matters. The NFL continues to expand its media and branding reach. This partnership taps into that space. It also creates an unexpected link. While there is no direct connection, Swift remains tied to the league through her relationship with Travis Kelce of the Chiefs. What started as a flashpoint in the music industry has now become a bold NFL play.
