Two drug peddlers held in Palamu

In a late-night operation, Daltonganj police nabbed Chitranjan Kumar Gupta and Nand Kishore Pandey while they were allegedly transporting 5.5 kg of marijuana. With Rs 7,200 in their possession and a motorcycle at hand, the pair attempted to escape but were thwarted during a tense pursuit.

Daltonganj: A team of town police late on Thursday nabbed two marijuana sellers and recovered 5.5 kg of this banned article. Those arrested were identified as Chitranjan Kumar Gupta (32) and Nand Kishore Pandey (50), said police officer Mantu Kumar on Friday.

Cash worth Rs 7,200 was also recovered along with the seizure of a bike on which the duo were heading towards a place of worship in a housing colony in Daltonganj to make a deal, he said. “They tried to run away but were chased and nabbed,” he added. Gupta hails from Abadganj locality under the Daltonganj town police station limits while Pandey belongs to Chiyanki under the Sadar police station limits. “Gupta is a serial offender,” he said.
