KKR tried to fight back towards the end, but Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan kept their calm and finished the match with two balls to spare, sealing GT’s third win in a row. KKR will be disappointed as Cameron Green’s 79 went in vain due to lack of support from others.
Chasing 181, GT got off to a flying start. Gill looked in great touch from the beginning, playing elegant shots all around the ground.
He was well supported by Sai Sudharsan, who scored 22 and helped GT reach 50 in just over four overs.
After Sudharsan got out, Jos Buttler added a quick 25 before being dismissed by Varun Chakaravarthy. Gill continued his attacking approach, reaching his fifty in just 27 balls and looking set for a century before being dismissed by a sharp effort from Green in the field.
KKR made things slightly tense by taking a few late wickets. In the final over, they needed five runs to win. Ramandeep Singh gave KKR hope by dismissing Glenn Phillips on the first ball. However, Tewatia and Shahrukh held their nerve to guide GT home.
