Lucknow: The Lucknow University (LU) has is introducing 22 minor degree programmes for undergraduate students from the coming session, allowing them to pursue additional courses alongside their main graduation programme.Officials said the initiative is based on a credit system and includes a free entry and exit option, giving students flexibility to choose, continue or leave a minor as per their academic requirement.Of the 22 minor degree programmes, the faculty of arts will offer 14 in various departments. These programmes will be open for students of all faculties to enable inter-disciplinary study.Also, eight minor programmes will be introduced by the faculty of engineering and technology for engineering students.Students will be allowed to choose a minor course along with their main four-year degree programme. The structure allows entry and exit flexibility while credits will be awarded on the completion of the minor course.LU vice chancellor JP Saini said, “These courses will provide additional skills to students and improve employment opportunities. Lucknow University is one of the few universities in the state to provide such minor degree courses along with graduation.”
